City to review off-sale alcohol rule changes
By CHUCK CLEMENT, Staff Reporter
The Madison City Commission will hold the first reading to proposed changes affecting municipal off-sale alcohol license holders during its meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at City Hall.
The first change for off-sale licensees would allow the sale of alcoholic beverages on Sunday and Memorial Day. The second change would allow off-sale license holders to provide free samples of alcohol.
The city commissioners will also consider a request from DeLon Mork of Dairy Queen to close Harth Ave from N.E. 2nd St. to N.E. 1st St. from 2-11 p.m. on Aug. 5. Mork made the request to improve public safety during Miracle Treat Day, a fund-raiser held for the Children's Miracle Network hospitals.
The commissioners have scheduled an executive session on contract negotiations.
