The Madison City Commission will hear funding requests from the heads of the Lake Area Improvement Corp. and Madison Chamber of Commerce when it meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
The city commissioners will receive a request from Dwaine Chapel, LAIC executive director, asking for $140,000 as the city's contribution to the development corporation's annual budget. Chapel will also request the city's annual $100,000 contribution to Forward Madison, a program dedicated to job retention and development.
Julie Gross, Chamber executive director, will make a request for the chamber to receive $75,300 in city support for the next fiscal year.
In 2010, the city funded both entities with the same amount that they received in 2009: $63,000 to the chamber and $140,000 to LAIC. The city also committed $100,000 in 2010 to support Forward Madison.
In other business, the commissioners will consider:
-- Approving a request from the chamber to close the 100 block of S. Egan Ave. and the 100 and 200 blocks of N. Egan Ave. to traffic on July 30-31 when Madison holds its annual Crazy Days event.
-- Discussing the municipal ordinances related to maximum lawn height and related penalties.
-- Approving a peddler's license for Weston Zaludek of the Southwestern Co., a provider of preK-12 educational materials.
-- Approving plat in Schultz's Addition.
-- Recognizing the appointment of City Engineer Chad Comes to the state Water Management Board.
The commissioners have scheduled an executive session concerning contract negotiations at the end of the meeting.
